10 Best Hair Volumizing Shampoos for Perfect Volume

Do you struggle with flat, fine hair?

Do you wish you could just get some volume to your hair?

This is a common problem amongst clients coming into the salon.

The common problems associated with fine hair are:

  • Oily roots.
  • Not being able to achieve the styles you want.
  • Brittle ends.

At this point you may have tried loads of different products such as mousse and sprays, you may have even tried vitamin tablets.

These products will help you to get volume, but it is important that you start with the correct shampoo.

It is really important that you use professional shampoos as they not only cleanse the hair, but they distribute the necessary ingredients that the hair needs.

Volumizing shampoos generally contain carbohydrates! What do foods like pasta and bread do to us? They make us bloat.

Carbohydrates in shampoos are there to bloat/plump the hair.

Let’s Take A Look at 6 of My Go-To Volumizing Shampoos:

1. Kerastase Densifique

This is one of the best volumizing shampoos on the market!

It is designed to strengthen the hair fibre and awaken dormant follicles; this will help to give the hair more body and texture.
This shampoo helps to thicken the hair long term, not just until your next shampoo.

2. Loreal Serie Expert Volumetry

Although still a professional shampoo it is slightly more affordable than the Kerastase, however it still has some amazing benefits.

It adds volume and moisture, removes oily build up and adds a beautiful shine to the hair.

This is a great everyday shampoo!

3. Redken High Rise Volume

This is the shampoo that I have seen the most instant benefits from. It cleanses the hair while adding body, and it leaves the hair feeling soft and shiny.

I really love this shampoo and I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting instant volume in their hair.

4. Moroccan Oil Extra Volume

I absolutely love the smell of this shampoo!

This is actually a very lightweight shampoo, it is designed to add volume, bring back shine and make the hair more manageable.

This shampoo is great as it still retains some of the benefits from the whole Moroccan Oil range.

5. Joico Joifull

This is another great instant volumizing shampoo. It is designed to wash away dirt and oil, while adding volume and body to the hair.

This is a beautiful luxury shampoo that leaves the hair feeling soft, shiny with more texture.

6. Loreal Serioxyl

This shampoo is part of a complete volumizing range, and it will completely change your life!

It immediately makes the hair look thicker with more volume.

The great thing about this shampoo is that it works well for sensitive scalps, and they have a range specifically for colored hair.

Team this shampoo with the Serum for Thicker Hair and it will really make a difference. Simply shampoo and condition your hair, apply the serum and blow-dry as normal.

If you want to change your hair long term, they have a Denser Serum that you could team with the shampoo, this serum is applied daily for the course of 3 months, it is then stopped for 3 months and then started again.

It takes a few months to see the results with this serum however, it will make the hair feel denser long-term.

I have seen some truly amazing results with these products, especially with clients that suffer with alopecia. It helps to thicken up the hair that is on the head and also any new hair growing through.

Now we have had a look at the shampoos, you need to ensure that you are using them correctly!

  1. Ensure the hair is completely saturated with water before you begin.
  2. Put a small amount of product in the palm of your hands and smooth over the whole of the hair. You should only be using about the size of a 50-cent coin, per shampoo.
  3. Lather using the pads of your fingers. Your first shampoo may not lather but don’t panic, you can always add a bit more water if you need too.
  4. Rinse well and repeat the same technique.
  5. Always towel dry the hair before applying the conditioner.
  6. Run the conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends ONLY.
  7. Rinse and style as normal.

You can then team these with volumizing products, the great thing is a lot of the shampoos we have discussed also come with their own volumizing products which complement each other.

These generally include:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Mousse
  • Serum/Spray

Invest in the full range, you won’t regret it!

Getting the right hair care products will really make a difference to your hair, they can help to improve volume, density and the overall condition of the hair.
