Just because you're 60 or over doesn’t always mean you need to go for a boring, short haircut.
You can definitely still keep your haircut to match your modern, fabulous self! You just want to make sure that the haircut suits your personality, face shape, hair texture and hair density.
I am going to share with you six of my favorite short haircuts.
You will notice most of these styles have:
One key trade tip I want to share with you is, most people struggle with their hair thinning when they reach a certain age, and the majority of people jump into layers to try and make their hair look thicker.
Professionally layers will remove weight from the hair, making it appear thinner. I am also going to share with you which of these haircuts will suit your hair type.
This haircut is definitely one of my favourites and it is perfect for anyone who’s hair is on the thicker side.
By taking the underneath shorter you are removing a lot of the weight.
Finished with a beautiful amount of texture on top.
This cut can be worn smooth or textured and is fairly easy to maintain.
Plus, it is ultra-modern!!
This haircut is timeless! It really is a beautifully classic cut that will suit everyone’s hair type.
I would normally recommend this cut to finer hair types as it makes the hair appear thicker, especially through the lengths.
This cut can be worn straight, curly or wavy and it is so easy to maintain.
This is my all-time go-to haircut for finer hair types.
The graduation will make the hair appear thicker, fuller with more body.
By leaving the front slightly longer it will also give a softer appearance.
This haircut can be worn sleeker, like the picture, or with more volume.
My favourite product to style this haircut with is L'oreal Pli, as it gives the hair hold without being too heavy.
This cut is perfect for someone who doesn’t want to have to style their hair daily.
I normally recommend this cut on wavy-straight hair types, as cutting the hair short can make the curls appear curlier, making it harder to look after.
The styling routine normally consists of simply washing, rough drying and applying a texture product.
My favourite is the Redken Rough Paste, as it gives the hard hold with a slightly matt finish, plus it is not too heavy on the hair.
How beautiful is this!!
This cut is perfect if you want to enhance your natural curls.
It works whether your hair is fine or thicker and it just achieves a lovely amount of movement and volume.
The best thing about this cut is that it is very easy to look after.
Curl Cream can be applied to the hair after washing, the hair can then either be left to dry or styled using a diffuser attachment to the hairdryer.
My favourite Curl Cream is Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream, not only does it enhance the curls and give hold, it gives the hair much needed moisture.
This haircut works great whether you want a bob, pixie cut or any length in between.
It works great on thicker hair types, as it removes weight and adds texture, allowing the hair to sit better.
I don’t normally recommend this for finer hair types as if the hair is blow-dried or styled it can look finer.
I love the movement and versatility of this haircut. It can be worn smoother or with a great amount of volume, you could even add a curl.
As you can see from the above pictures, the haircuts are teamed with a light-based hair color, this is because:
Some of you may even have decided to embrace your white hair, there are some beautiful shampoos out to help keep your white hair looking fresh.
Both of these products work by removing any unwanted brassy tones from the hair, leaving the hair looking clean, fresh and shiny.
Think of a white top, you wear it all day, by the end of the day it doesn’t look as white.
This is exactly the same as your hair...
Finally, just because you have reached 60 doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful hair!
There are some beautiful cuts and colors out now to suit every face and hair type.
Embrace it.
